Universal Credit is coming to Bradford!

After 20th June most people in Bradford will no longer be able to make new claims for old benefits such as Housing Benefit, Employment Support Allowance, Tax Credits or Jobseekers Allowance. This fundamental change in the benefits system is being introduced council by council, and our neighbours have seen a lot of confusion when UC is introduced.

This course is aimed at staff who help people who rely on means tested benefits.

This one day course provides you with a clear overview of Universal Credit and how it might affect your clients.

By the end of the day you will know broadly know:

  • HOW Universal Credit works

  • WHO needs to claim Universal Credit

  • HOW it fits with other benefits

  • WHAT problems could potentially arise

Most importantly, we will look at what you can practically do to help your clients to successfully claim and manage a UC claim. *Jana will provide detailed information combined with practical tips for getting the best from the benefits system for your clients.

Trainer: *Jana Elles has worked as a generalist advice worker for well over twenty years, and as a Welfare Rights specialist for over ten years. She has delivered training nationally for Citizens Advice, and latterly to advice centres, support agencies and housing associations. Although legally trained, her ongoing advice work experience mean her training is accessible and clear.
