Volunteer Management - 3 day course 8th, 15th, 22nd June 2017

Registration is closed for this event

For Bradford District organisations only.

This three day course which is based on the National Occupational Standards for Volunteer Managers and the Certa Volunteer Managers Award is ideal for existing staff to develop and consolidate their skills.  It will also be an excellent starting point for those beginning a volunteer management role.

Learners can choose to undertake additional work and submit a written portfolio for accreditation at Level 3 (see below).

Previous participants have found the course useful in terms of reviewing their own practice and as a source of help and support from other Volunteer Managers.

The course will cover:

  • the benefit of volunteering for the volunteer, organisation and community
  • how to embed the principles of volunteering in your own organisation
  • the legal and organisational requirements for volunteering
  • different ways to attract and recruit volunteers
  • good practice for recruitment/selection procedures and volunteer induction
  • volunteer motivation and the link to retention
  • different models of support offered to volunteers
  • how to identify the training and development needs of volunteers

Optional Accreditation

We hope to offer (optional) accreditation for this course. If we are able to do so learners who wish to submit a portfolio for assessment at Level 3 can sign up and pay during the course. The course is based on three units: Organisations and Volunteering; Attracting and Recruiting Volunteers; Supporting and Developing Volunteers.  Learners that pass all three will achieve the Volunteer Managers Award.

Accreditation costs will be confirmed by the trainer and will be approx. £100 for a 2 credit Unit and £210 for the whole Award. These costs are in addition to the course fee.  The trainer will run through accreditation and what it entails at the beginning of the course and there will be additional support available following the taught course through both email groups and tutorials.  If you are thinking about the accreditation then please talk to your manager beforehand about whether your organisation will pay for the additional costs.
