Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) Training - 11th April 2019

Many community groups and voluntary organisations run services for children and vulnerable adults for which it is important to safeguard children and adults against abuse and neglect.

The overarching aim of our one day training course is to swiftly impart to participants how to check whether prospective employees/volunteers have a criminal record which makes them unsuitable for running particular activities and services for your organisation. Many clients with whom we work are eligible to use the government’s Disclosure and Barring checking service (DBS) (formerly called the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checking service) to check your employees/volunteers’ criminal record. This is covered on the course with appropriate advice given on how to take any action after the training has been completed.

Our lively one day course provides information about how, and in what circumstances, you can request DBS checks for employees/volunteers, how to use the information you receive, and in what circumstances you should share information or concerns about employees/volunteers with the DBS. We specifically cover:-
